- NUFFIC
Nuffic was established in 1952 as an independent, not for profit organization based in The Hague. It supports internationalisation in higher education in the Netherlands and abroad, and helps to improve access to higher education worldwide. With its motto “linking knowledge worldwide” Nuffic plays an important role in fostering international cooperation in higher education between the Netherlands and other countries.
Netherlands Education Support Offices are the overseas offices of Nuffic. Currently Nuffic has Nuffic Neso offices in Brazil, China, India, Korea, Mexico, Russia, Taipei, Thailand and Vietnam, in addition to Indonesia.
- NUFFIC NESO IN INDONESIA
In 1996 the forerunner of the Netherlands Education Support Office was founded in Jakarta, at that time under the name of Netherlands Education Centre or NEC. In 2007 the office was officially renamed in Nuffic Neso Indonesia, in line with the name of the other Nuffic Neso offices around the world. Nuffic Neso Indonesia (or in short Neso Indonesia) is Nuffic’s official representative in Indonesia for all matters concerning Dutch higher education, and promotes and provides information on more than 1400 study programmes available in English in the Netherlands.
- WHAT DO WE DO?
Nuffic Neso Indonesia’s objectives are two-fold. At the university level it acts as a facilitator, bringing Dutch and Indonesian academic institutions together for the exchange of information and technical support. At the personal level Nuffic Neso Indonesia promotes the Netherlands and its educational system to prospective Indonesian students.
Promotion
As the official representative of the Dutch higher education sector in Indonesia, Nuffic Neso Indonesia carries out a wide range of activities promoting the Netherlands as an ideal study destination for Indonesian students. Nuffic Neso Indonesia holds a wealth of information on what’s available in the Netherlands, and how a potential student can take advantage of the opportunities there. It advises in detail on the administrative and visa procedures that a student will need to follow in order to study in Holland, and will offer pre-departure briefings on life in Holland, Dutch culture, levels of cost of education and living, and any other matters that are of concern to a student.
Every year Nuffic Neso Indonesia organises the Holland Education Fair in several cities in Indonesia. In addition, Neso Indonesia also participates in local fairs and presentations at universities, schools and other relevant institutions.
Regular activities of Nuffic Neso Indonesia include counselling services, both in person and through online channels, direct mailing, advertising, open-house presentations, and so on. The purpose is to inform target groups such as (prospective) students, study-abroad agencies, universities, and central and local government institutions dealing with education, about opportunities to study in Holland. As part of its information providing work, Nuffic Neso Indonesia works closely with many Indonesian media.
Our website provides a wide range of information on study in Holland in general, as well as brief information on the possibility to study in Indonesia for Dutch students.

Scholarships
Neso Indonesia administers the well-known StuNed (Study in the Netherlands) scholarship programme. Every year since 2000, around 200 young professional Indonesians have on a yearly basis been granted scholarships to go to the Netherlands for advanced education (master, short courses and tailor-made training programme) in a wide range of disciplines related to the development of Indonesia. This is part of the Dutch government’s commitment to assisting Indonesia’s long-term development by contributing to the potential of its human resources.
Nuffic Neso Indonesia also promotes other Dutch scholarship programmes, including the Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP) and the Huygens Scholarship Programme (HSP). NFP is a capacity development programme that provides advanced study (up to PhD level) for individuals nominated by their employers. It aims to give a mid-career boost to people with the potential to create development in their organisations. HSP is a talent-based scholarship programme offering scholarships for the last year of a Bachelors degree, and for Masters degree programmes.
