Cleveringalezing 2010: “The Birth of Law Out Of The Spirit of Tragedy: A literary anthropology of law”.
Nov 23, 2010Every year the Leiden University Fund (LUF) organizes so called Cleveringa meetings on or around November 26. These meetings are organized in the spirit of the legacy of Professor Cleveringa, who fought for academic freedom during World War II.

Netherlands as well as
abroad, during which scholars from Leiden
University give

The speaker
this year is Prof. J. H. (Hans) Nieuwenhuis, Professor for Civil Law at the
Leiden University Faculty of Law. The title of his speech is “THE BIRTH OF LAW OUT OF THE SPIRIT OF TRAGEDY: A
literary anthropology of law”.
