Lagre numbers of students and their parents thronged the education fairs that were organized by Nuffic Neso Indonesia in cooperation last October 2010.
Nuffic Neso Indonesia’s Holland Education Fair (HEF), which took place on 5 October in Jogjakarta and 7 October in Bandung was attended by 1,300 and 1,600 visitors respectively. The increase of visitors for the Bandung fair was 200% compared to last year.
The biggest number of visitors, more than 12.000, came to the 2nd EHEF (European Higher Education Fair) which was organized on 9 – 10 October 2010 in Jakarta. More than 15 European countries participated in the EHEF, the largest contribution in terms of participants came from the Netherlands (25 institutions), followed by France and Germany.
Although this was the second EHEF to be held in Jakarta, it was the first time that it was completely organized locally by the same consortium that organised the 2008 EHEF, consisting of DAAD, CampusFrance and Nuffic Neso Indonesia. As in 2008, Nuffic Neso Indonesia had the lead in the consortium. Financial support was provided by the EC Delegation in Jakarta.
The EHEF was opened by the Vice-Minister for National Education, Prof Dr Fasli Jalal, who took his time after the opening to tour the venue and to talk to the representatives of the participating institutions.
Both during the HEF and EHEF Nuffic Neso Indonesia organized presentations and invited staff of the Indonesian Ministry of National Education to inform the interested visitors about the Indonesian scholarship programme and invited Erasmus Mundus alumni to give information in the Erasmundus Scholarship.
In addition a Asemundos Contact Seminar was organized back to back to the EHEF by amongst others Nuffic in the Hague and with the support of the Neso office in Indonesia, was also very succesfull
The HEF and EHEF enjoyed broad media coverage, both printed/digital and on the radio. All in all, the HEF and EHEF were very successful and this was also expressed in the positive evaluations by the participants and the visitors.
