Two Dutch universities announce strategic alliance
01 Feb 2011
Eindhoven University of Technology and Utrecht University with its University Medical Centre (UMC) have agreed to extensive cooperation.
The partners will invest in joint research and open up possibilities for professors to take up part-time positions at both universities. In addition, students in Utrecht and Eindhoven will have access to the education programmes of both universities. Furthermore, the institutions will develop a new master’s programme in the field of biomedical technology.
Veerman Committee
The cooperation is in line with the recommendations in the report of the Veerman Committee (Triple Differentiation in Higher Education) issued in April 2010. Among other things, the committee recommended that universities specialize in a specific area of science and that they work together more closely to be able to compete internationally.
