Learn Dutch

Although many Dutch people speak English very well, you may want to learn some Dutch as a part of your Study in Holland experience.

This can make it much easier to get in touch with other Dutch students and make some Dutch friends. And wouldn’t it be great to be able to read the newspaper or books by famous Dutch writers? And how about watching the local or national news?

Learn Dutch in your home country or in Holland

If you would like to learn Dutch, you have two choices: you can start taking a course in your home country or you can study Dutch once you arrive in Holland. To find Dutch courses in your home country, you can contact the Dutch embassy and ask where courses are given.

If you want to learn Dutch in Holland, you can contact the institution of your choice to see what courses they offer. You can also go to the local library or municipality. They often have brochures with information about Dutch language courses. The courses are often offered at different levels: beginner, intermediate or advanced level.

In the factsheet 'Dutch language courses for international students' you can find more information about Dutch courses offered by higher education institutions.
