Healthcare allowance

A Dutch public healthcare insurance can weigh heavily on a small budget, so the Dutch government provides a healthcare allowance (zorgtoeslag) to people on a low income. If you have a Dutch public healthcare insurance you may be entitled to this healthcare allowance.

Applying for the healthcare allowance

You can apply for healthcare allowance online or by using the application form. Please note that you need an electronic signature to apply online and that the application procedure is only available in Dutch. It is probably easiest to order the form.

• Application forms can be obtained from your local Tax Office or by ringing 0800–0543 (in the menu first choose 1 and then 3). The phone line is open from Monday to Thursday from 8am to 8pm and on Friday from 8am to 5pm. The employees from the Tax Office information line have been instructed to only speak in Dutch. However, most employees will be willing to assist you in English when you order the form.
